LIGHTS, CAMERA, TAKE ACTION - STOP UNDERAGE DRINKING NOW!

CONGRATULATIONS TO KRISTEN PAPOULAKOS OF PATRICK HENRY HIGH SCHOOL, THE WINNER OF "LIGHTS, CAMERA, TAKE ACTION: STOP UNDERAGE DRINKING NOW!"

Richmond, VA (January 28, 2010) – Fox Richmond/myTV Richmond and Loveland Distributing revealed the winner of "Lights, Camera, Take Action: Stop Underage Drinking Now!" on FOX Richmond in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, January 24, 2010.

In what turned out to be one of most exciting down to the wire games of the season, the New Orleans Saints defeated the Minnesota Vikings in OT 31-27 for a birth in their first Super Bowl. The 253,700 viewers in Richmond also watched the premiere of the winning Lights, Camera, Take Action entry FOX Richmond. Kristen Papoulakos' community service message titled "Big Baby" depicts a group of teenagers at a party where one of the students is dressed as a baby to illustrate their message that drinking doesn't make you look cooler, wiser, better or older. Papoulakos took a humorous approach to her message hoping to appeal to her peers in a different manner, "When I started, I wasn't sure about how the concept would work, because I didn't want to alienate parents and adults, but I knew it would speak to other young people" said Kristen about her PSA. The message is simple, but clear. Kristen's entry garnered the most votes earning 41% of the total.

A senior at Patrick Henry High School, Kristen was up against three other talented students - Matthew Schwartz — "Memories", Goochland High School; Hyekang Shin — " What is Alchohol?", Deep Run High School; and Hunter Ralston &mdash "Empty", Varina High School; but the delivery of her message resonated with her peers and the community, pushing her to victory.

On behalf of Brendan Fitzpatrick, Marketing Manager at Loveland, "Loveland Distributing would like to thank all of the participants, and congratulate the winner, Kristen Papoulakos. We at Loveland are committed to helping young people make better choices and this program allows students the opportunity to use positive peer pressure to make an impact in the community."

Thousands of votes were collected from December 8, 2009 through January 22, 2010 and Kristen's entry rose to the top. Her PSA will be featured on FOX Richmond now through the crucial months of prom season in the spring.
